The Rajasthan CET (Senior Secondary Level) is conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, Jaipur. The scheme below is taken from the board's official notification (Advertisement No. 08/2026). The 2026 scheme is different from the 2024 exam — fewer questions, less time, and negative marking.
Exam pattern at a glance
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Number of questions | 120 |
| Total marks | 240 (2 marks each) |
| Duration | 2 hours 30 minutes |
| Type of questions | Multiple choice, all carrying equal marks |
| Negative marking | Yes — 1/3 of the marks of that question (0.67 mark) for every wrong answer |
| Standard of the paper | Senior Secondary (Class 12) level |
Three points stated plainly in the notification:
- All questions are multiple choice and carry equal marks.
- One-third (1/3) of the marks of a question is deducted for every wrong answer. (The 2024 exam had no negative marking.)
- All questions are set at Senior Secondary level.
The fifth option — do not ignore this
Every question on the CET answer sheet has five circles. The fifth one stands for "Question not attempted" — it is not an answer choice.
If you do not want to answer a question, you must still darken the fifth circle. According to the notification, if no circle is darkened for a question, one-third (1/3) of its marks is deducted (for up to 10 per cent of the questions), and a candidate who leaves more than 10 per cent of the questions with no circle darkened is disqualified. Marking the fifth circle carries no penalty.
Subject-wise weightage
The board does not announce how many questions come from each subject. All 120 questions are drawn from the subjects below. Judging by past papers, Rajasthan GK — history, geography, polity and economy — carries the largest share.
- History, art, culture, literature, tradition and heritage of Rajasthan
- Geography of India and Rajasthan
- Indian political system with special emphasis on Rajasthan
- Economy of Rajasthan
- Everyday Science
- Logical reasoning and mental ability
- General Hindi
- General English
- Knowledge of Computers
- Current Affairs
