Reverberation is the phenomenon where sound persists in an enclosed space due to multiple reflections from the walls, ceiling, and other surfaces, causing a prolonged sound effect.

A plane mirror can be considered as a part of a spherical mirror with an infinitely large radius of curvature, hence its focal length is infinite.

The human ear can typically perceive sound frequencies ranging from approximately 20 Hertz (Hz) to 20,000 Hz.

SONAR (Sound Navigation and Ranging) uses ultrasound waves (sound waves with frequencies above the human audible range) to detect objects underwater and measure distances.

The speed of sound in water is significantly faster than in air. At room temperature, it's approximately 1500 m/s. 343 m/s is for air, 5100 m/s for steel, and 3 x 10^8 m/s for light in vacuum.

The laws of reflection are universally applicable to all types of reflecting surfaces, whether plane or curved.

Different colors of light (different wavelengths) travel at slightly different speeds in a medium like glass, leading to different refractive indices and thus different degrees of bending (dispersion).

A plane mirror always forms a virtual, erect image of the same size as the object. The positive sign indicates an erect image, and '1' indicates the same size.

The relationship between speed (v), frequency (f), and wavelength (λ) is v = fλ. So, λ = v/f = 340 m/s / 500 Hz = 0.68 m.

Humid air is less dense than dry air at the same temperature and pressure because water vapor molecules (H2O) are lighter than nitrogen (N2) and oxygen (O2) molecules. Sound travels faster in less dense media, so humidity increases the speed of sound.

When light travels from one medium to another, its frequency (and thus color) remains constant, but its speed and wavelength change.

When light passes from a rarer medium (like air) to a denser medium (like water or glass), its speed decreases, and it bends towards the normal.

Rods are photoreceptor cells in the retina that are highly sensitive to light and are responsible for vision in low light conditions (scotopic vision) and detecting motion.

The retina is the light-sensitive screen at the back of the eye where the image of an object is formed by the eye lens.

The color of an opaque object is determined by the colors of light it reflects. It absorbs all other colors present in the incident light.

The bending of light rays as they pass from water to air (or vice versa) causes the submerged part of the stick to appear in a different position, making it look bent.

Sound waves are mechanical waves that require a medium (solid, liquid, or gas) to propagate. They cannot travel through a vacuum because there are no particles to vibrate and transmit the sound.

Quality or Timbre is the characteristic of sound that enables us to distinguish between different sound sources (like different voices or instruments) even when they have the same pitch and loudness, due to the presence of different overtones.

Due to atmospheric refraction, light from the sun is bent as it passes through layers of air with varying densities, causing the sun to appear flattened and slightly higher than its actual position during sunrise and sunset.

Negative power indicates a concave (diverging) lens. Power P = 1/f, so f = 1/P = 1/(-2.5 D) = -0.4 m = -40 cm.

A convex lens is a converging lens, meaning it brings parallel rays of light together at a single point (its focus).

A concave mirror forms a real, inverted, and magnified image when the object is placed between its principal focus (F) and center of curvature (C).

Diffraction is the bending of waves (including light waves) as they pass around obstacles or through small openings.

The critical angle is the angle of incidence in the denser medium for which the angle of refraction in the rarer medium is 90 degrees. Beyond this angle, total internal reflection occurs.

Loudness of sound is measured in Decibels (dB). Hertz is the unit of frequency, meter for wavelength, and second for time.

Presbyopia is an age-related eye condition where the eye's lens becomes less flexible and the ciliary muscles weaken, making it difficult to focus on near objects.

The Doppler Effect describes the change in frequency or wavelength of a wave (like sound or light) in relation to an observer who is moving relative to the wave source.

The least distance of distinct vision (or near point) for a normal human eye is approximately 25 cm. This is the closest distance at which an object can be seen clearly without strain.

The SI unit of power of a lens is Dioptre (D), which is defined as the reciprocal of the focal length in meters (P = 1/f).

When an object is placed at the center of curvature (C) of a concave mirror, the image is formed at C itself, and it is real, inverted, and of the same size as the object.
